Stairs Before & After

Stairs to Heaven???

Well who thought that someone can change the apperiance of stairs 3 times in 6 months?! Not me. But here it is.

What we had when we moved in.

After we painted it.

Then decided to take the carpet out and what we found.

And how it looks right now, after we sanded and painted it!
And one more pic !

Before & After

Bedroom Before & After

Where the sheep are counted every night!

A quick look at the bedroom situation. We started out with (of course) an empty room. This is what we have done so far!
Enjoy

We changed the wall color from yellow white to light grey and painted the trim a crisp white. Cleaned the blinds, cleaned the carpet before we took it out  and added lots of furniture. Most of it we had allready. So you see you dont have to spent thousands of dollars to have a good night sleep!
Can I improve the room even more? Sure but that will be another day! :)

Good Bye Carpet!! Part 2

Out Out Forever!!
Since we took out the carpet downstairs, we needed to go with our dog to the vet. He had a tummy rash. Why do I tell you that? I tell you why because the remaining carpet upstairs was the reason for his rash! YES you heard right!
So when we came home we put the gloves on and started to rip out the carpet for good!
Here is our journey!
We started with the stairs and worked our way up through the hallway into the bedroom. After that we did my office and then Zac's office. What we found underneath the carpet was a surprise! Actual hardwoodfloors. In really bad shape but hardwoodfloors. So we decided to sand it stain it.....
Stripped down stairs

In the bedroom.

The hallway

The hallway half way sanded down.

Different stain samples.

The final floor!

We tried out a few different stain colors but they didnt cover the bad areas and so we decided to go with an actual floor paint. This would seal everything and give it a cleaner finish. You need to know while we were doing this, we were still living in the house and the only bathroom is upstairs! So we moved everything around everytime we had to sand and stain one room. And that while it was a 100 degrees outside and inside around 89! Yippi
Look at the next blog to see more finished pics from the floor!

Back and Forth...who rocks that chair????!

Rocking Chair Makeover

This rocking chair has been stuck in the past for a long time! Luckily it was rescued by Zac and brought to the paradise of DIY Makeovers! So lets see what we can do with new paint, foam and fabric?!

So lets recap the process of a chair makeover. Take of fabric ( dont destroy it, it can be useful when you cutout the new fabric). When you have dine that you can go ahead and burn it. Then sand the chair. Repair and cracks etc. stain or paint chair. Reuse the foam or replace it with new one. Cut out fabric and staple it on the chair!
Not rocketscience! Everybody can do it.

PS: A special Guten Tag to my friends from oversea :)

How to turn your house into a warehouse!

Hello there again!. Send your dogs in the room t
Today I want you to give you a couple quick tips how to completly turn your house into a ware house.
Dont worry its easy to do. One afternoon wil be enough and you wont recognize your house the next day!!

1. Place furniture randomly in the room

2. Resist the urge to clean.

3. Start piling stuff on top of eachother.

4. Stack boxes, open boxes and leave them open.

5. Send your dogs in the room to me place even more.

Continue to do theses things and you end up with a great warehouse look!!! It will drive you insane. Happy Day :)

And here a few helpful pics!!!!

Pile random stuff on top of each other.

Place furniture in the middle of your room, so you have something to run into!

Final product! Cramp all your stuff in one corner!
And this is how you deal with the craziness in your house. In a funny way. Dont get frustrated, mad, angry, etc.... And NEVER say serenity now since we all know from seinfeld "serenity now insanity later"   LOL
So keep calm and carry on! Swing that hammer......

Goodbye Carpet! Part 1

Goodbye Carpet may you rest in peace! Or rot in the landfill....

Well well we took out the germ trap of a carpet and now have a blank slate. Ok we had to do some repair work but today is the day where we will start the new floor! Yippi
Here are some pics from the progress so far. Any questions feel free to ask.

ups where did the carpet go??!

Clean slate carpet is gone!

Here is how it looked before! By the way have you seen the new back door??! But thats for another post LOL

Ewwww who wants to find that?

Yes we had an Inspector overseeing the repair work!

No this is not the new floor, this is Zac patching the rotten sub floor.

Patchwork floor. Ready to go!!!

The rotted subfloor was due to a leak by the front door, where water would come in and over time this is what happens. Luckily the rest of the floor seems fine and after we took out hundrets of old carpet staples we can lay down the new floor.

Dog suitcase

Dog Bed on the go!

Nothing to do on a sunday?! yeah yeah I know barely happens but if it does I have a quick and fun project for the petlovers!

How about this old suitcase from 30 years ago that you actually had to carry?! Still got it but you dont use that anymore when you go somewhere!!
So how about a different use besides the dump?

Lets make the pets happy and give them a bed they can brag about!

Start with an old suitcase

Drill holes and secure the legs!

I secured the legs with nuts inside the suitcase.

Add a cusion

which you can aslo use without the suitcase.

And if you have not alot of space you can use it aslo as a coffeetable! TADA!!!

Well how about that. Two new uses for and old suitcase that was one walk away from the trash.
